David Joseph McVicker was a native of New Castle, [if !vml] [if !supportEmptyParas] [endif] † In
Paradisum.† [if !supportEmptyParas] [endif]
[endif]Pennsylvania, and
a son of the late Margaret A. McVicker and the late Robert L. McVicker. Inspired by his family’s deep Faith and musical prowess, David began his Pastoral Music Ministry at the early age of twelve at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church in New Castle, where,in less than three years he became the Principal Organist. While pursuing further education at Youngstown State University,he accepted the position of Director of Music at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church. Always remembering the tutelage of his pastor, the late Reverend Joseph L. Iati, David dedicated “Guardian Angel,”in Father‘s memory. An accomplished, dedicated and renown Roman Catholic Pastoral Musician and Liturgist, David faithfully served for twenty-six years within the Roman Catholic Dioceses of Pittsburgh, Youngstown, Cleveland and the Archdiocese of Miami. In 200l, David broadened his loving promotion of devotion to our Blessed Mother,by successfully producing a CD collection of Marian Hymns, entitled, “To Him, She Leads©.“ David continued his Pastoral Music Ministry at St.Paul Cathedral, Pittsburgh,as principal Cantor and Assistant Organist until passing on at age 39,on 21 July 02. David is, and will always be,greatly missed by his family and friends, but his wonderful legacy of music and his devotion to our Blessed Mother will continue to give witness to the Marian tradition which we, as Roman Catholics, so lovingly embrace. <
